Kayla & Eric | A Wedding Day Full of Meaning in Omaha, Nebraska
October 10, 2026 — Kayla & Eric’s Wedding
Some wedding days are about more than two people saying “I do.” They’re about two families becoming one, honoring the people who helped shape your lives, and celebrating the beginning of a new chapter surrounded by the people you love most.
Kayla and Eric’s October 10, 2026, wedding was a beautiful reflection of all those things. From their special connection to the date and numbers to the heartfelt family moments, thoughtful gifts, and an absolutely packed dance floor, their day was filled with personality, emotion, and so many details worth remembering.
And Kayla? She was absolutely stunning!
A Meaningful Date: 10/10/26
Kayla and Eric chose a date that held special meaning for them, and they made sure that significance was part of their celebration. Their wedding date, 10/10/26, was more than just a date on the calendar. They even created a special display explaining why the numbers were meaningful to them, giving guests a glimpse into the story behind their choice.
I love details like this because they make a wedding feel personal. Years from now, when they look back at their photographs, these little pieces of their story will bring back not only what their wedding looked like, but why it mattered so much.
A Bride Who Took Everyone’s Breath Away
Kayla looked incredible on her wedding day! Every detail came together beautifully, from her gorgeous bridal look to the finishing touches that made her feel completely herself.
There were so many lovely details to photograph, including her bridal accessories, rings, and the beautiful gifts she prepared for her bridesmaids. Kayla put so much thought into making the people standing beside her feel special, and that thoughtfulness was evident throughout the day.
She prepared personalized gift boxes for her bridesmaids, filled with an assortment of beauty products, candies, candles, and other little surprises chosen to make each person feel appreciated. It was such a sweet way to thank the women who were there to support her as she began this next chapter.
The little details tell us a lot about a couple, and Kayla's care for the people around her was evident in so many ways.
The Moment Eric Saw Kayla Walk Down the Aisle
One of the moments I will always remember from this wedding was Eric's reaction as Kayla walked down the aisle.
My son, Lukas, was photographing alongside me as my second photographer, and he captured Eric's emotional reaction as he saw his bride approaching. Those genuine, unplanned expressions are some of the most meaningful photographs from a wedding day. You can't stage that feeling, and you certainly can't ask someone to recreate it in quite the same way.
While I photographed Kayla making her way down the aisle, Lukas was able to focus on Eric and the emotion on his face. Together, we preserved both sides of that moment.
The ceremony also included a fantastic dip kiss at the altar! Lukas and I captured different perspectives of that unforgettable moment, giving Kayla and Eric more than one view of their first kiss as a married couple.
And that is one of the many reasons I love having a second photographer at weddings. While one photographer focuses on the main action, the other can capture reactions, alternate angles, and moments happening elsewhere. It allows us to tell a much fuller story of the day.
Joining Families and Honoring the People Who Matter Most
One of the most meaningful parts of Kayla and Eric's wedding was the way it celebrated not just their marriage, but the family they were building together.
Their wedding represented something much bigger than the start of married life. It was a celebration of the bond they had already built and the family they were choosing to move forward as together.
Their special dances with the kids were among the most touching parts of the celebration. These weren't simply traditional wedding dances; they represented the relationships, love, and commitment that brought everyone to this moment.
Both Kayla and Eric are also incredibly close to their parents, and that connection was reflected throughout the day. From their family portraits to the special dances, it was clear how much these relationships mean to them.
I especially love wedding photographs that capture the connections between generations. The embraces, proud smiles, happy tears, and quiet moments between parents and their children become even more precious as the years go by.
Remembering Loved Ones Who Couldn't Be There
As much as a wedding is about looking forward, it can also be a time when we feel the absence of loved ones who have passed away.
Kayla and Eric thoughtfully created a memorial display honoring family members and other loved ones who couldn't be there in person to celebrate with them. With photographs and meaningful details, they made sure these important people had a place in their wedding day.
It was a beautiful reminder that the people who shape our lives continue to be part of our stories, even when we can no longer celebrate with them in person.
These are the kinds of details I want couples to remember to include if they feel right for their day. A wedding doesn't have to leave room only for the happiest emotions. There's space to honor the people we miss, too.
A Wedding Bible for Guests to Share Their Favorite Verses
Another especially meaningful detail was the custom Bible Kayla and Eric provided for their guests.
Rather than having guests simply sign a traditional guest book, they invited them to highlight their favorite Bible verses and write personal notes to the couple. Their beautiful custom Bible became a place for friends and family to share Scripture, encouragement, and words of wisdom for their marriage.
What a wonderful keepsake to revisit throughout their life together! They can open it in the years ahead and be reminded of the people who celebrated with them, along with the verses and messages those people chose to share.
It's a personal touch that reflects how much meaning their faith and relationships hold in their lives.
A Special Family Photo, Recreated for Their Wedding
One of my favorite personal details was a photograph of Kayla's parents that we recreated during Kayla and Eric's engagement session.
We had the opportunity to photograph this meaningful recreation before the wedding, and seeing the image displayed as part of their celebration made it even more special. It was a lovely way to honor Kayla's family history and incorporate a piece of their story into the beginning of her own married life.
I love when engagement sessions become more than an opportunity for couples to get comfortable in front of the camera. They can also be a chance to create photographs that carry personal significance and become part of a couple's wedding-day story.

We photographed their session at Lake Manawa State Recreation Area in Council Bluffs last fall, surrounded by gorgeous autumn colors and natural scenery. It was such a lovely way to document the season of life leading up to their wedding.
A Cake Worth Celebrating
Let's talk about the cake!
Happy Mango Bakery created a stunning wedding cake that was every bit as memorable as the rest of the day's details. Wedding cakes can be such a beautiful centerpiece, and this one was a wonderful part of the celebration.
Of course, a beautiful cake is even better when it's delicious, too! Happy Mango Bakery helped make dessert another highlight for Kayla and Eric and their guests.
Incredible Food and a Dance Floor That Never Quit
After the meaningful ceremony and heartfelt family moments, it was time to celebrate!
Catering Creations provided an amazing meal for the guests, and the food was a wonderful part of the reception experience. Good food, favorite people, and a reason to celebrate make a pretty unbeatable combination.
Then Dynamic Air DJs got the party going, and the dance floor brought all the energy!
The reception was lively, fun, and full of people ready to celebrate Kayla and Eric. There was so much movement, laughter, and excitement to photograph. From the dance floor to the candid interactions between friends and family, the evening was a reminder that weddings can be both deeply sentimental and an absolute blast.
One of my favorite moments was Eric twirling Kayla. Lukas and I were positioned to capture different views of the action, giving them two unique perspectives of the same fun moment. Those different angles help tell a fuller story and preserve the energy of the celebration.
The combination of heartfelt family moments and a packed dance floor made this wedding feel like a true celebration of everything Kayla and Eric had to look forward to together.
